At
this age toddlers are in full bloom and class activities at DHCDC match
the constant movement and curiosity of the age. Children are vigorous,
energetic and enthusiastic, and require fun and constant stimulation
while they are learning life’s important first lessons.
Our
goal is to help the toddler:
• Develop language skills
• Increase fine motor development & eye/had coordination
• Develop large muscle skills
• Increase vocabulary and begin pre-writing work
• Learn to follow directions
• Learn to express feelings
• Learn to feed and dress themselves
• Share with children and caregivers
• Develop good health habits (hand washing, snack prep, etc.)
Activities
include:
• Opportunities to run, jump and climb
• Art activities: painting, play dough, drawing, clay, coloring,
mixed media, etc.
• Building blocks, puzzles, lacing, stringing/beading, buttoning/zipping
• Dramatic play
• Counting & matching games, classification & sequencing,
sorting & patterns (pre-math)
• Toilet training prep
• Photos & book-making, “reading” book alone
• Cultural exploration
